The Global Genes RARE Patient Advocacy Summit is the largest gathering of its kind which will bring together rare disease patients, advocates and leaders worldwide to this two day event in Irvine, California.
I am looking forward to being one of the presenters at this event where I will be speaking on Understanding the Emotional Health of RARE Disease Families.
In this discussion, I will be exploring the challenges loved ones and family members encounter when a family member has a rare disease. I will be sharing my thoughts on this as a mental health therapist who also lives with an invisible illness.

Chronic pain affects so many including family members and caregivers of those with health and pain conditions. In this low-fee workshop, Dr. Nimira and I will share with you helpful techniques to better manage physical pain symptoms and also how to better manage stress. While this event is titled Health Management Strategies, there will be a focus on ways to support self care and chronic pain in this free event using a variety of approaches including mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, meditation and more. I will share with you how stress impacts the body and can play a role in experiencing pain symptoms. Additional strategies will be explored in this free and interactive workshop at the Westlake Village Library.

In this free workshop, at the Malibu Senior Center, I will share with you different approaches to help in managing stress, anxiety and chronic pain. The workshop will also be interactive, where you will have the opportunity to try out the different exercises to see which ones work best for you. Free materials will also be given to all who attend.
